SETTLEMENT SERVICES

The Future Looks Bright

Kenako Helping Hands Society (KHHS) provides assistance in privately sponsoring extended family members, relatives, and friends. We only sponsor refugees who are outside of their home countries and are unable to return due to a well-founded fear of persecution based on factors such as race, religion, political opinion, nationality, and/or membership in a particular social group (e.g., gender, sexual orientation, etc.).

Regardless of their nationality, religion, or sexual orientation, we are committed to sponsoring refugees who meet the above criteria. Upon arrival, refugees are legally entitled to work. However, if they do not speak English, enrolling in English classes is the first step to gaining the language skills needed for work, learning the Canadian ways of life, and integrating into the community. We are responsible for ensuring that newcomers can learn or improve their English so that they can find work.

OUTREACH

Change for the Better

If you're an immigrant or refugee hoping for a better life, you don't have to go through the process alone. Our Outreach program provides support for those seeking help from within Canada, as well as those still in their country of asylum. Our sponsorship program offers a path to a new life in Canada, and our dedicated volunteers are committed to helping refugees one person at a time. At Kenako Helping Hand Society, we believe that everyone deserves a chance at a better life.
